After capturing the aspirations of the diverse population of India, Vision India@75 – The Peoples’ Agenda was released at the CII AGM at the hands of Prof. C. K. Prahalad, the inspiration behind the India@75 effort.
To ensure that the India@75 imagined by the people of India is realized by 2022, it is critical to combine the high level of thought leadership with localized action. Towards this end, it is important that each vision element receives an aligned action agenda at various levels within CII, beginning with National Committees, going through Regional and State Councils all the way to the Zones and Disricts. To enable this, a process partner is being appointed. A volunteer management program, supported by a Corporate Torchbearer of India@75 model, is also being put in place to sustain action at the local level.
While significant work needs to be done in various areas, three focused areas stand out for urgent attention this year since we believe these are not only critical for the vision to be realized but also are areas where CII can play an active role : Education with Skill Building, Inclusive Urbanization and Sustainability. Engagement of other stakeholders, especially government, at national, state and local levels is essential to turbo charge the progress that can be achieved in these areas. Working with NGOs, generating awareness, identification and propagation of next practices are other elements that will fuel the speed of change.
Finally, India@75 is all about energy, enthusiasm and excitement of creating our dream India. This needs to be sustained through various events across the country within and beyond CII in as inclusive a manner as possible.
